Пытаясь найти сравнительный обзор Visual Assist и SlickEdit Tools For VS 2005

обнаружил убойный диалог на CodeProject:
Q: Why use the rest when you can use the best, Slickedit www.slickedit.com?

It's basically a superduper version of emacs with it's buffers/views paradigm,
something the VS still hasn't gotten right. It also integrates tagging properly and allows you to jump around from tag to tag with ctrl+. and back with ctrl+, It'll display method/field/whatever completions AND the associated
comments (espically nice if it's formatted in JavaDoc style.)

And of course it does syntax highlighting for any language you'd want.

This is NOt a paid ad. I just can't believe that people still think that VS and all of it's associated plugins are useful when better alternatives are out there.

A
: if you don't like it, don't use it !

whatever you think, Visual Studio .NET is very productive due to its well designed IDE.
But it's up to you to use freewares...
Дальше следует комментарий отфонарного пользователя, от неожиданности которого я выпал:
SlickEdit is a product and not a freewarе.
Как это всё-таки печально (((
